AHC21316 Certificate II in Shearing

The Certificate II in Shearing Course provides an entry level occupation outcome in shearing. It recognises the work of a novice shearer who is able to shear a minimum of 40 adult merino sheep or 50 adult crossbred sheep per day to an acceptable industry standard. Our leading industry trainers provide one on one coaching & expert tips throughout the duration of the course to enable you to shear to a high quality. The course also teaches highly sought-after practical skills for the shearing environment, enabling you to become employable as "learners" in commercial wool harvesting operations throughout Australia.

The Course is suitable for participants ranging from those new to the shearing industry, to woolhandlers looking to learn new skills in shearing and crutching. You will learn about a range of skills such as handling sheep for shearing, requirements specific to shearing and using equipment such as grinders for combs, cutters, and setting up a handpiece.


You will learn about a range of skills such as handling sheep for sheep shearing, requirements specific to shearing & using equipment such as grinding combs, cutters & setting up a handpiece, maintaining your health & wellbeing for the shearing industry & financial budgeting for seasonal workers. Throughout the course you will also be taught all aspects of wool handling, wool pressing & clip preparation to prepare you to go straight into the industry.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

On completion of the Certificate II in shearing you can further your skills by undertaking the AHC 32916 Certificate III in Shearing where you will receive extra training & in-shed coaching to take you to a professional level, increasing tallies & shearing to a high quality.
